The paper presents the theoretical aspects of Epicurus’ teaching of the health of the body. The author shows that, according to Epicurus, the health of the body has a dual nature: formally, the health of the body belongs to the pleasures of the rest, but it can be also assessed as an additional good adding diversity to a happy life. This connects the health of the body with the pleasures of movement, the main purpose of which is the diversity of a happy life.
