The fact of distinction between left and right hemispheres of the brain by morphologic, functional and biochemical parameters is generally accepted nowadays. The data about integrative relations between nervous and endocrine systems allow to suppose that there is functional asymmetry of endocrine system. The aim of the study is to investigate the association between morphometric and functional parameters of thyroid gland with functional asymmetry of the brain hemispheres in healthy people. It was found that right-handed persons have prevalence between people having no thyroid pathology. For the first time it was shown that people without thyroid pathology have certain degree of asymmetry between lobes of thyroid gland. The ratio of right lobe volume to the left lobe volume is 1,50:1 in the adult population. It was shown that the right lobe / left lobe ratio is reduced to 1.44 : 1 in ambidexter persons and is aggravated until 1.55 : 1 in right-handers. The data received may serve as base for revision of the conception about relative symmetry of thyroid gland and to use the right lobe / left lobe ratio as a parameter reflecting the healthy status of thyroid gland.
