Definition of matter given by Lenin is compared with other approaches to the understanding of matter that existed in the history of philosophy. The conclusion is made that the definition by Lenin synthesizes all the positive (from the materialistic point of view) achievements of previous philosophy concerning the comprehension of the concept of matter and at the same time eliminates the weaknesses of the most popular previous approaches.
Содержание ленинского определения материи сопоставлено с имевшими место в истории философии подходами к пониманию материи. Обоснован вывод, что в ленинском определении синтезированы все позитивные, с точки зрения материалиста, достижения предшествующей философии по осмыслению содержания понятия материи и одновременно нейтрализованы и элиминированы недостатки основных предложенных ранее подходов к этому понятию.
